Montana (C.M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge)

The very first Keep It Public Conservation Campout!

The C. M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge has acquired new acreage through the Land & Water Conservation Fund. This parcel has old fencing running through the area that the Fish & Wildlife Service would like removed to improve wildlife movement. Justin Schaaf, our Field Conservation Coordinator, recently watched a pronghorn buck walk three miles along the fence before it was able to find a way to cross.

We are excited to head out there to help restore this vibrant habitat and connect with like-minded public land enthusiasts. We have been thrilled to see the amount of people that have reached out to do more for our public lands, and we're proud to establish this new program as a way to harness our volunteer potential.

Camp-out. Improve habitat. Meet some good folks.
